About

Kinship Calling is an accessible and inclusive wellness festival that is open to people from all walks of life regardless of age, gender, sexuality, race, upbringing or family set up.

We hope you are able to attend our events and recharge your mind, body and soul (rather than drain them!)

Connection is important to us and we hope our attendees are able to reconnect with themselves, the beautiful nature that surrounds them and their kinship (family and friends).

Meet the team

Daisy Botha

I have worked in the events industry for over a decade now in a variety of roles at art venues and festivals. I've been running own business organising vegan markets across the South West since 2018.

Gemma Barnard

Gemma created and set up her own business back in 2017 creating a wellness space for families, including outdoor yoga, wellness retreats, forest mindfulness. She now has others working for her, whilst she concentrates on home educating her son.

Behind the name

kinship

noun [ U ]

UK /ˈkɪn.ʃɪp/ US /ˈkɪn.ʃɪp/

  • the relationship between members of the same family

  • a feeling of being close or similar to other people or things

We want everyone at Kinship Calling to feel reconnected with themselves and their families and also want them to feel close to the other like-minded attendees and feel like they are a part of the event too.

The essence of Kinship Calling falls into three categories:

  • Reconnecting with your kinship

  • Reconnecting with yourself

  • Reconnecting with nature

Your Kinship

We want to offer something for families of all shapes and sizes. Pregnancy yoga, baby changing facilities, baby feeding safe spaces, bushcraft, kids yoga and meditation, storytelling, outdoor cinema, baby raves, circus workshops, live music, foraging, outdoor dining experiences. These are just some of the activities we've got planned. Some activities will have an recommended age range but we want everything programmed at Kinship Calling to be appropriate for the whole family so that people of all ages (newborn to the grandparents) can get stuck in together. There won't be any "adults only" areas, or children areas, everyone will be free to explore wherever they please.

Yourself

In our fast paced lives it can be hard to find the time for ourselves. We hope attending Kinship Calling will recharge your batteries rather than drain them. Feed your body with delicious, plant-based food from around the world. Feed your mind with mindful activities and new skills and feed your soul by doing things that make you happy. Laugh, dance and sing with your loved ones. Reconnect with and nourish yourself so you can be the best version of you.

Nature

Exist outside away from modern life, explore the woods, respect the land and learn how to look after our planet. As well as simply being out in nature for our event, participants will be able to take part in foraging, bushcraft, forest bathing, outdoor cooking as well as attending talks on the environment and how they can help climate change.

The festival is not just about taking things for ourselves but about giving back to our planet too. Although interestingly, because of the mental health benefits of being in nature and the satisfaction of doing good, by giving back to our planet we can benefit from it too.
